2.(3x - 1) - 3.(5 - x) = 10
6x - 2 - 15 + 3x = 10
9x = 27
x = 3

Multiply both sides by 12:
2(3x-1)-3(5-x)=10
6x-2-15+3x=10
9x-17=10
9x=27
x=3
Check:
(3(3)-1)/6-(5-3)/4=5/6
8/6-1/2=5/6
8/6-3/6=5/6
5/6=5/6

Hey, just to give a slightly different route.
first distribute the divisors within the parenteses, so you will have:
1/2(x)-1/6 -5/4 +1/4(x)=5/6
and then find a common denominator. I chose twelve.
6/12(x) -2/12 -15/12 +3/12x =10/12
then move the non-x-containing factors to the answer side so you have.
6/12(x) + 3/12(x) =27/12 or 9/12(x) =27/12
divide 27 by nine and you get three.

in all likelihood the question is, "what's x?" would not sound very equivalent to geometry to me, more effective like algebra, yet even with... a million/6 + 3x = 5/6 3x = 4/6 (subtract a million/6 from both part) x = (4/6) / 3 (divide both part by 3) x = 4/18 x = 2/9 (shrink)

Multiply all figures by 12
2(3x-1)-3(5-x)=10
6x-2-15+3x=10
9x-17=10
9x-17+17=10+17
9x=27
x=3

here's how u do it.
(3x-1)/6-(5-x)/4=5/6
multiply both sides by 12 to give
2(3x-1)-3(5-x)=10
6x-2-15+3x=10
9x-17=10
9x=27
x=3
therefor x = 3

multiply each side by 24. that will give you
(12x-4) - (30-6x) = 20
then,
12x-4 - 30 + 6x = 20
18x - 34 = 20
18x = 54
x = 3
