I'm 19 weeks, and my son's kicking is getting fairly frequent, but I've noticed he ALWAYS kicks while Im reading with a book propped on my belly (no, I'm not mashing down with it and squishing him, it's just resting lightly). He gets his little feet under the edge of it and pokes and pushes against it, every single time. I was just curious if anyone else had noticed certain things that always set baby into motion for them!

Drinking cold water or eating popsicles made my son kick. Also when I listened to music in the car!

One thing that worked for me was to take a glass of ice water and jiggle it so that the ice made a clinking noise right over my belly. It always seemed to perk her up!

At this point you wont feel movement regularly (you wont until around 25wks)
But to encourage your little one to move around more you can:
Drink cold water
Drink juice
Eat spicy food
Play loud music
Take a flashlight, place it face down (turn it on) on your belly and run it across your stomach slowly

Something sugary, something REALLY cold and especially something cold and Sugary like a Slurpee! Occasionally music with a lot of bass would get our first going as well.

When i was pregnent with my daughter i use to eat ice and a twinkie and it would have her all over the place. Other times I would just put on mexican music and that would get her moving.

mine kicks at different times nothing I do makes him do it more often. However, much to his dads chagrin a sure fire way to make him STOP kicking is to have dad place his hands on my stomach for a quick kick feel, stops immediately then.
