as stated, the answer to the problem is "D" since the second equation is "Y=-2" and this is a horizontal line two units below the x axis. It is not the same as the first equation and is neither perpendicular nor parallel to it. If however, y=-4x + 2, it would be perpendicular to the first equation. Parallel lines have the same slope and perpendicular lines have equal slopes, but one is of opposite sign.

I think the problem is Y = 4x - 3 and y = -4x + 2. If that is correct, D is the right answer. The first line is positively sloping upward and the second line is negatively sloping downwards. They are not perpendicular since tangent of the angle between the line and the x-axis is 4, which is more than 45 degrees. Thus the total angle is more than 90 degrees.

because you've x AND x² in the equation someplace, it is a quadratic. you opt to get it in the fashion: ax² + bx + c = 0 So our equation is: x² - 7x + 38 = 5x + 3 We in reality merely choose each and every thing on the left part of the equation, so enable's subtract 5x on both part: x² - 12x + 38 = 3 Now we subtract 3 on both part: x² - 12x + 35 = 0 we've a quadratic expression in which a = a million, b = -12, and c = 35. There are 2 hassle-free ideas of adjusting. a million) Factoring: (x - 7)(x - 5) = 0 x = 7 or 5 2) Quadratic formulation x = (-b ±?(b² - 4ac)) / 2a = (12±?((-12)² + (-4)(a million)(35)) / (2*a million) =(12±?(one hundred forty four - one hundred forty))/2 =(12±?(4))/2 = (12+2)/2 or (12-2)/2 = 14/2 or 10/2 = 7 or 5

y=-2, x=.25 or 1/4. It is a point, not a line at all.

y=4x-3
y=-4x+2

I'm going to use the solve by graphing method:
4x-3=-4x+2
8x-3=2
8x=5
x=5/8

y=4(5/8)-3
y=-4(5/8)+2
y=5/2-6/2
y=-5/2+4/2
y=-1/2

The answer is C.

Is there really no x in your second one?

Either way, it appears to be D. They don't have the same slope or have slopes that are negative reciprocals of each other so they can't be perp. either.

none

parallel lines have same slope

same line has same slope and y intercept after simplifying

perpendicular lines have slopes that when multiplied together equal -1
