It's easy to buy scalped tix at Dodger Stadium. First time to Fenway - what am I looking at?

I would not count on it, because you may not find them. I would call ahead and buy tickets if available instead. Now scalpers are regulated. They can only sell tickets up to face value, which has taken the appeal away for most people and therefore there will be less or no tickets available. You may find someone whose buddy didn't show with a ticket to give you but it doesn't happen very often.

Your better bets would be to purchase them like everyone else or call friends in Boston to ask around if anyone has an extra tickets well before the game and doesn't want the seat to go to waste. Also try craigslist but caveat emptor.

I know people tend to say this is not possible, but really if you are outside the park, generally right around the Unos area of Kenmore Square, on any given day there will probably be about 5-10 people selling tickets. Also, the box office WILL release some. Since the 11th is a Friday, there will be a fairly long time for the ticket window. Get there a few hours early and you'll have at least a 50-50 chance, if not better. I am there all the time and notice people doing this a lot. Prepare for a worst case scenario of going to one of the bars in the area which are always a good time. . . .Keep in mind though you can always buy tickets from an agency like Stub Hub, or Craigs List. Then again, you're risking anything when you're buying tickets directly from another person!

Awww glad to see Hank thought my answer to a similar question was a good one. Thought I'd save you a trip and copy that one over here. Hope it helps. And FYI anyone who tells you to count on getting a ticket either hasn't really tried or has very deep pockets and they don't care what they spend for said ticket! So here's that answer;

The answer is while it is technically possible, it is HIGHLY unprobable. Think of it like a winning lottery ticket....probably the grand prize type odds. All games are sold out. At several times they will release extra tickets to the public, generally before game day.

That said if you go to Fenway odds are you will end up at the Cask or Game On or any of the other bars watching it there. But there is always a very teensy, tiny chance you will be one of the lucky ones. There are 3 ways you might get in game day. One is if there are extra tickets that make it down to the box office window. As most folks know for any event there are always tickets set aside, and there generally are a few left over (especially for the non-major events/games or in bad weather). While odds are someone in the organization will snap these up, now and again a few trickle to the box office. I used to know what time, but likely that is changed now so I don't want to lead you wrong. But it used to be mid-morning.

The other is the also rare odds that someone will have an extra ticket and will look to be selling it at face value because someone couldn't make it. Odds were much better on this when the Sox weren't as hot, because generally now if someone can't go someone else a person knows will. And the most expensive/dangerous is scalpers. Although this year they are making a visable attempt to stop scalping, so likely folks doing it will e doing it farther away and more quietly. It will always go on, but there is always a risk about ticket credibility and some cop swooping in. Not to mention price of course lol.

So my feelings would be if you feel like going down, enjoying the atmosphere and be prepared to watch at a local bar (which is kinda fun too), you can roll the dice and see if you can get tickets. If you want to count on going, I'd definately go with tickets in hand.

Here's one resource to check out, but keep in mind you are buying from other individuals so I'd suggest proceeding with the appropriate caution; http://www.stubhub.com/tix37-ticketcenter/boston-red-sox-tickets/?GCID=C12289x157>kw=red%20sox%20tickets

Anyway good luck! Hope this helped.

Came to add one more suggestion. I'd call the Red Sox Executive offices (NOT box office), explain you are coming in from out of town and have heard often tickets get released to the public on game day. Ask what time and what is the probability. They will know how things have been running, so you won't have to count on what we here think is correct info!

There are tickets to the 5/11 game with Baltimore up for auction on eBay.

If you can't get to the game, go to one of the local sports bars with a TV and you can yell and scream with the other patrons. Just walking down the street near the park is a blast!

I hope you enjoy Boston.

I was at a game once and sat next to two girls who bought their tickets in the top of the second for $25 a piece in the grandstands behind the plate from a scalper. Once the game starts the prices DROP. It is a gamble but its worth a shot for worst case. Good luck

You might be looking at some jail time. You never know if that "scalper" is really an undercover cop.

Try Ebay or Stubhub or Craigslist - sometimes people with season tickets sell 'em...

By advice is to see if you can purchase the tickets on E-Bay or purchase them on a reliable website like ticketmaster. I would not trust tickets by a scalper because they could be a fake and you would not want to purchase phone tickets with no refund back in return.
