No problem, there is nothing illegal. You can go back to Dubai in a new visit visa if your previous work visa has been already canceled. In other way you can not obtain a new visit visa till the existing work visa have not been canceled yet.

The immigration staffs in the airport are friendly with all the nationalities who traveling to Dubai with legal documents.

All the best.

I got problems to understand your question right. Did you leave your work in Dubai after 6 months?

If so, then I guess your employment visa was not cancelled. This needs to be done first. You have to send your passport to your former sponsor, coz only he can cancel your visa with the Immigration Department. If you really only stayed for six months you will have a one year ban, which will state that you are not allowed to enter the UAE, either on a visit visa nor for work.

In other words: when your former residence visa got cancelled and you did not received a ban, you can come back on a visit visa.

Take care
