I feel for the family of little Madeleine, they must going through absolute hell, but who's fault is it that they still haven't found her after after 48 hours. But I ask you this, with all the child abductions over the past 30 years, why hasn't anybody learnt to keep a closer watch on their children?

For me it's the parents' fault all the way.

I'm gathering nothing's changed from what we were first told? (That the parents, both doctors, left three kids in a hotel room, all of which were under ten, and that the older two fell asleep and the youngest wandered out and was abducted).

Apparently they thought it was OK because they went back and checked "every once in a while". Nobody can say that they deserved this to happen to them, God forbid it must be awful and I cannot imagine what they're going through, but they left three kids unattended and now they're paying the ultimate price.

There is a lesson to be learnt here, a wake up call. If you go on a family holiday, make sure it's a family holiday when you go for romantic meals, not just when you feel like it.

Listen we could all sit here and give our views on what they shoulda done and shouldn't, it doesn't make them bad parents for leaving them it doesn't make them good ones either, they could see their apartment door from where they were which is close enough for some poeple, if this world didn't have such sick perverts in it we could all relax, i knew this question would come up it always does, i wondered how long it would take for people to jump on the bandwagon and blame everyone involved instead of just wishing this poor child gets back to her parents safely, i think no matter what anyone says about the parents at the minute its only them who are suffering, blaming and going through every parents worst nightmare themselves anyway no matter what they could or couldn't have done to prevent that happening. If you turn your back for 5 mins at home or shopping or just about anywhere it could happen to you, regaradless of how much you watch them, so stop being small minded and just pray they get her back, were all to quick to judge when we've never been through it.

I dont think blame should be dished out just now but I dont think the children should have been left alone. I know the parents checked on them was it every half hour but a lot can happen it that time apart from kidnap. Just a child being sick on themselves and crying for there mum and its an other 25minutes before she was due back is not on.

i have had dealings with the police and the portuguese legal system and if they are relying on them the child is lost Portugal is a third world country with third world problems and coruption the police there are badly equiped poorly educated mis guided and lazy if reports are to be believed the child was seen at a marina iif so they might have been going to a boat to make a quick getaway (morroco South of spain ) i live in the south of spain and i know the captain of my local port . but no phone call no e mail no fax no nothing from portugal to inform them to be on the look out for arriving boats .... seems easy to me.......... my thoughts are with the parents, good luck

Agree with first answer. The parents had obviously just spent entire day with their 3 kids... and were just having an hour at a bar/restraunt opposite the hotel room, after putting their tired kids to bed. It's the parent's holiday too and man and wife deserve a bit of quality time together... and you can expect them to just go to bed immediately themselves come 9pm. The parent's must be in a living hell... it's not a thing to be joking about.

i agree,i wouldnt leave my children alone in this country never mind a forgein one, they said it was a stones throw away, bollox, they were far around the corner and couldnt see didly squat from where they were dining, what kind of people leave a 2 2 year olds and a 3 year old all by themselves at that age they are prone to accidents etc.i pray that they find the little girl but it doesnt look good does it,if anything the whole thind looks dodgy to me anyway maybe its all 1 big cover up for something... stray dog obviously doesnt have kids!!!thats part of having kids you sacrifice that time alone part....

If that was the Uk or Europe, there would be thousands of officers and the media would have a hand in helping, what better way to inform people on a huge scale than television and radio.

two people supposedly well educated not paying for a proper babysitter that the hotel could have supplied them!!!

Personally i wouldn't leave my 12 & 14 year old here let alone in a foreign country!!!

Would the story have been different if a single mother had done the same thing

There are faults on both sides, but blaming is not finding

You are RIGHT! I can't believe they left a 3 year old alone in a hotel room while they went to dinner.
