I have many Iranian Armenian friends they are cool to hang with. but some sort of Iranians are very sleek and liars, this I know from business transactions. Other than that most of them are very nice people. The government might be a little problem but US administration is a problem too, who cares. My favorite singer is ANDY!!!! "baba karjumes???" lol

I have never been there, but I'm pretty familiar with the history of Persia and Iran/Iraq and have a fair understanding of Islam. I have friends from all over the Middle East including both Iran and Iraq.

One thing to realize about that part of the world is they have not known what peace is for over 5000 years. It is not really important to them because until they visit other countries like ours it is not a concept they can relate to.

Nor can most of the people there relate to why everyone doesn't follow Islam (in much the same way I have seen Christians not understand why everyone doesn't <3 Jesus) but not everyone is as violent about it as the media shows. But they are pretty passionate and they believe that devotion to the state is an integral part of Islam, so questioning their leaders is not as likely as it is here in the USA.

As for Iran's nuclear experiments, they have no hydro power to speak of, I don't think burning coal is a good idea or feasible for them, what else are they supposed to do for power? I think they should be left alone to develop nuclear power for non-weapon purposes, and frankly, they should not be told they can't develop it for weapons by a country that has dropped the bomb before.

My neighbour is Iranian and still has family there and so is a regular visitor to Iran. He and his wife tell me it's nothing like you see on the TV, but that doesn't surprise me in the least.

We frequently talk about the Iran, or Persia, he grew up in and he paints a wonderful picture of a magical childhood. He left the country at the time of the revolution and has no time for the current regime, but he remains proud of his roots.

Like most people, he is concerned about the future although he has a little more invested than most of us.

Thankfully, most sensible folk realise that you rarely get a true insight into the nature of a place or a people from newsflashes.

I was born there, went back several times.
I saw lots of deference some good some not.But I like it there , still have relatives in there.
One very good thing I saw back there (there are many), I have to mention is the product they use are all Persian and the labels and ever thing is Persian. It was very nice.
Iran is a very old and beautiful country with lots of historical places to see.
I am Armenian and there is specially very old Armenian churches, about 12 only in city of Isfahan which is second large city in Iran. Armenians were taken to Iran by force about more than 400 years ago, they have seen lots of ups and down but I would say for the last 75 years they were living in good atmosphere. There is lots of history connected to Iran an we are both Aryans.
Anyway there is no danger in Iran, people are very friendly.
The president of Iran is very a good man and have guts, he is doing just fine for Iran.

It is very difficult to get accurate info about any political issue. We (the US) definatily have our own propaganda machine.
One of my best friends hitchhiked around many Arab and Asian countries about 35 years ago. He said the Arabs were some of the nicest people, without a doubt.
That being said, with what I think I know about Iran (not much, to be honest. This is a complex question!) I don't trust the current regime, at all.

What, you want an entire political, social and economic discourse on Iran and what I know about it?

Come on, ask a question that gets to the point of what you are trying to find out.

Personally, Iran is a nice country but I wouldn't want to live there...too prone to earthquakes,
However, Iran's government, much like America's government, is run by a party of power-hungry totalitarians who will not listen to reason or consider moderation.

I feel sorry for those stupid people who think Iran is a desert and Iranians are bedouin.Iran is land of arians and my green paradise.I am proud of my nationality and of our 6000 years old rich history and I will crush any invader's skull to defend it.Since the time immemorial my ancestors lived here and we will do the same and our children will do the same.
