IF you get enough, and really enough to make a difference, then yes.

If gas consumption would decline 10% gas prices would probably fall by half. The problem is the are some people who have cut back because of high prices that would increase the consumption if the prices stared to fall because you stopped getting gas.. The law of supply and demand is hard to beat.

The gas companies will cause it all by themselves. The pinch of gas prices will cause people to drive less, or get their Hondas out and park their Hummers for a while, then prices will come down.

You want to make an impact on gas prices, contact your legislators and demand that they build new refineries and open up the Alaskan oil for drilling. Demand that we can drill in the Gulf of Mexico for oil.

You are more likely to get large number of people to contact their senators and representatives than stop driving.

So, what you are suggesting is that I not go to the grocery store tomorrow, but go on Friday instead?

A strike is not going to work. That just puts off demand to another day and doesn't affect the overall demand for gas.

You need to change behavior -- smaller cars, public transportation, etc.

The most successful way I've heard of is to organize a strike against just one company. Sooner or later it has to drop it's prices to increase business.

News flash.. you are in america.

You think people will sacrifice money? You think people will give up their shiny cars and oversized houses? Not for the world, my friend, not for the world.

Convincing the number of people required to make an impact would be difficult; I'm in if you do it!
