I don't need serious help, but I do feel like I'm a bit lost and could use a little direction in life. Is there any place where counseling / therapy is cheap? But I don't want to talk to someone who has no clue what's going on or what they're doing.

My wife went to the United Way in our city and they have a counseling service. The fee you pay is based on your income and situation so she only paid $20. per session. It really helped her a lot. You can try that or your state mental health facility and they can help lead you to someone in your town. Talking to a neutral 3rd party is really helpful sometimes. I hope you find some help.

depends what kind of help you need. Generally, and for most people the are expensive. If it's regarding school courses well there is a counselor for that, if you're very young and you have a nurse at your school and your problem is regarding school work you can talk to her, otherwise, your parents don't ask for money for counseling, or maybe you have a teacher or a minister you talk with. What's the problem? Everyone has a specialty. Parents don't put your stuff in a file that's brought up in your face later on in life.

well then you won't want to go to a church because they won't help you a bit. Maybe if your still in school you could see a school counselor because they usually have a bit of psycological traning and they might be able to help, and there are some towns and cities that have free clinics. Maybe you could look it up in Yellow Pages or something.

If you have insurance then check with your insurance company to see what behavioral treatment is available for free in your area. If you don't have insurance then therapy will either be free or expensive$$

For free therapy you could check with local church groups or organizations.. but those are for group therapy.

If you don't have insurance... well.. if you're a student then you could check with your school for a therapist there..

But if you don't have insurance and you want one on one therapy you're going to have to pay the sticker price for one of them, and that's a pretty steep sticker price.

Most towns have free mental heath and womens clinics, you may have to google your zip code and 'health clinic' etc. to find one close to you.
