Agreed. They don't call it 'Sin City' for nothing. Vegas is about drinking gambling and sex, pure and simple, and anyone who goes to Vegas thinking otherwise is just kidding themselves. Unless you are planning to spend the entire trip sitting around at buffets and Circus Circus (the only place I am aware of on the strip that refers to itself as "family-friendly"), then be a responsible parent and leave the kiddies with grandma!

I actually have to make a decesion about this soon..I have a 16 month old son and I am planning a trip for my brothers 21st birthday party. I think that when you are going to Vegas to do nothing but gamble, drink and party, then there is no reason you should bring a child along, they will have no fun becuase they cannot do anything with us. If you are going there for other reasons, which I am not sure what they would be then yes, take your children as long as you can give them some time to have fun and do "child" activities with them.

well... i see your point on bringing them to coyote ugly... is not good at all. but i live in las vegas.. with 3 siblings a 1,7,and 12 yearold.. and we're perfectly fine. and when i was little there would be daycares in some casinos to keep your kids in., and those people probably didnt have a clue about these say cares or they didnt have a babysitter which they should have found. but bringing your kids to vegas.. is no problem unless you have no idea what your doing around here.

The thing that a lot of u are forgetting - those of u who think its okay to bring your kids to a place called sin city - is that single people and couples without kids don't want to see your ******* kids when they're out getting trashed and rightfully enjoying a city that was built expressly for the purpose of debauchery. Your kids don't belong there, and you're a shitty parent if u think its totally normal to bring little kids into such an environment.

To the families that live in Vegas, you have every right to live and have your children there, and to the families visiting you are absolutely correct to say that the kids should come and visit. I think this question is more directed towards families that come to be tourists on the strip looking for the place that was family oriented for a matter of a couple of years. Most tourists that come to LV do so to either gamble, party, drink exorbitant amounts of alcohol, go to a bachelor/ette party, or get married. Now I know some people go along with to go to the pools or the shows, shopping or golf or whatever else. But the majority of people go for the first reasons. Sorry if you disagree LVians.
As someone in the travel industry I used to always ask why someone wanted to bring their kids with them when they said they were going as a family. LV did not have the draw for families until the 90's and it didn't work well for the city so it has gone back to it's old ways. Kids need to be protected at early ages. So I agree that if there is not a safe place for the kids to be, don't bring them. Spend time somewhere else. The same families who bring their infants/toddlers/kids to LV probably wouldn't be caught dead with them in the middle of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It's time to use some common sense and look at the big picture, your job as a parent is to keep your kids as safe as possible while training them to be good adults. Being exposed to porn, gambling, drinking, and other bad habits is not setting a good example.

I'm 13 and I live here. Although it's kind of annoying having to walk through a casino just to get to a movie, you get used to it and there's a lot more to this city than sex and gambling. The reason it's portrayed as such a bad place is because of the tourists.

I have been to Las Vegas every year since I was 9. I am perfectly normal, and actually knew what porn was before I went out to lovely Las Vegas. If you take your kids out there, then make sure that you explain what they are seeing and explain that it is wrong. It was a learning experience for me when I went to Las Vegas the first couple of years. As far as people have their kids out late at night, that is their choice. If they want to keep their kids out, let them, are you the parental police?

Vegas was and still is a playground for Adults it is shame that the Vegas fools tried to make it a kid friendly site I wouldn't recommend bringing kids under 14 at this age and older they can handle the smut and still take in some of the better venues there is still Art and Exhibits that are astounding

In the 90s Vegas was family friendly and the theme hotels actually helped put Vegas back on the map. Now Vegas' casinos are targeting adults.
However, I think many people still associate Vegas as being child friendly, which it is not.

I live in Henderson Nevada, which is about 5 minutes from the strip. We have a 6 month old daughter, a 13 1/2 year old son, and a 11 1/2 yr old daughter.
The ONLY place I have EVER taken them is to Circus Circus, GameWorks (DURING THE DAY ONLY!!! because it gets CRAZY there at night with 19+kids!!), and the Buffet at Green Valley Ranch.
I HATE HATE HATE to see people walking around (especially at night) with babies in strollers, or young children on the strip!! This is NO place for children!
As you said there are hundreds of people handing out porn/stripper cards and fliers all over the strip at night. (which I think should NOT be legal-besides the fact that everyone throws them on the ground littering everything)
There is actually a curfew for anyone under 19 on the strip. I believe it's 10pm without an adult and 12pm WITH an adult.
I totally agree with you...........DON'T BRING KIDS TO VEGAS....GET A SITTER!!!!!!!!
