And why is Prince Philip a prince and not the king, along with her being the queen?

Please forgive my lack of education on the royalty. These are people that I know little of. But I thank you for your answers.

Prince Phillip is the Queen's husband, nor her heir.He is the father of the future King and the Consort of the present monarch.Only heirs can ascend the throne.
The title of King implies a regent,a ruler,a monarch.Queen Elizabeth II is the regent and no one else can have a title as high as hers. There is no title "King Consort" for a husband of a ruler, there is only "King" for the ruler.Elizabeth II is the ruler,so Phillip bears the title Prince Consort, husband of the ruling Queen.

The monarchy is a birthright. He's just an in-law. He'll still be Prince Philip, and he'll be the King's father. But he won't ascend to the throne. A king marries and makes a Queen, but when the Queen marries, he just becomes a Prince. That's the rules of Britain. Only through the male lineage does the birthright pass - that is why the boys are all ahead of Princess Anne in the line. Fascinating history - fun to watch - and this Queen is a true patriarch.

Prince Philip is not King because the male spouse of a reigning queen does not get that title automatically granted to him, and the royal family has never asked for it.

He would not become king after Elizabeth's death because he is not next in line. (He is 470th in line to the throne because he is a great-great-grandson of Queen Victoria.) Nowhere in the world does the throne pass to the spouse of a monarch upon that monarch's death. The monarchy passes first to descendants of the current monarch before going to other parts of the family.

Because Queen Elizabeth was the King's daughter, and her son is Prince Charles. Prince Phillip is her husband. He has to be connected to the crown by blood not just marriage.

Prince Philip is not king because he was not the heir to the throne. The Queen inherited the throne from her father King George VI, because he had no sons and she is the elder daughter. She is a Queen Regnant (a reigning queen) not a Queen Consort, someone who marries a king.

Prince Philip does not have the title of king, because that outranks the title of queen. His title is Prince Consort. Since he is not the heir to the throne, Prince Charles, as eldest son, will become king after the Queen is gone.
