Chill out. Straight people can support gay rights, too.

Just because he donated to a non-profit organization does not mean he's gay.
My parents have always donated to HRC as well as the Salvation Army. What does that make them? Temprant and Gay?
Hardly.
Do I suddenly have epilepsy because I donate most of my state tax refund to the Epilepsy Foundation?
Certainly not.

I'm straight and I donate(sorry, bad rhyme-not a bad slogan though) Most groups need donations and HRC is a good organization. I once gave to a Mother Teresa charity-I'm an atheist!

I donate to the HRC through the mail, I'm pretty sure they don't go door to door seeking donations.

Just because he donates to the HRC doesn't necessarily mean he's gay. Lots of straight people donate to the organization.

I've been an HRC member for years (at least 8 or so) and I've never known them to come to the door to ask for donations. They have called me, however, but I think they'd call existing members and not random digit dialing. You could always call HRC and ask. www.hrg.org

For the sake of all that is good -- all of our straight friends, who far outnumber our gay friends -- support gay rights and for that matter gay marriage.
What is more bizarre to me is -- what are you doing in someone else's email? I know that sort of thing is common at a certain social level, but I've never gotten it. I've been with my partner more than 15 years, and it never occurred to me to spy on him.
I'm sorry that you are concerned about this -- but if he is gay he is deeply closeted, so it should have no effect on you. Be courteous to one another - relationships of all types collapse from the type of discourtesy you have revealed by telling us you looked at his email.
If he is gay and he tells you so, that is the time to deal with the situation. Dealing with it by guessing, spying and innuendo will never help, and nothing will change.
As for the HR Campaign -- all groups have activist members who seek donations for their favored causes -- whether you are talking about environmental groups, gay groups, or anti-gay groups. I don't know that it happened, but it is believable.
Regards,
Reyn

I make donations for gay rights and I'm straight as people come. I walk the vigil to 'pray that cures be found"..........I do a lot in that area.....................it doesn't change my lifestyle, though.

Oh my God he gave money to support gay rights! You might as well put the rainbow flag out... But before you do, why don't you talk to him. He might have gay friends/family or just support gay rights, so that everyone is equal. Before you flip out, talk to him, and support him, because he apparently is smart. :)
