The difference between French and American responses to unpopular political leaders?

France is rioting over their election results. Our President is one of the most unpopular in history, he may have stolen the election, he consistently attempts to weasel around the Constitution, and he has made decisions based on political and economic connections rather than the will of the people. Are Americans more apathetic? Or is this a display of our restraint, and our Constitution, political and legal systems working together to keep our nation peaceful?

I've never liked Bush, but I'm glad that we've never had any riots. I wouldn't say that that indicates apathy on the part of the Americans, because pretty much every American has some strong opinion about Bush, whether it be positive or negative. Also, there have been riots in the US before, even if they weren't over election results. Perhaps it IS a display of our political and legal systems working together to maintain the peace.

Your question falls apart in many different ways.

For one thing, the French president just got elected...so obviously by a majority...so how is he unpopular already? BTW, he is openly conservative AND wants to renew their country's friendship with the USA. That must be driving the socialists on both sides of the Atlantic crazy! Hahahahaha!

Among other things... Americans don't riot (much)...is that in the case of your stated reasons TO riot, you are wrong. Since the more informed among us know that, you can't have a riot over nothing.

He didn't steal the election. Get your election process studied.

He did not make the Iraq decision based on economic connections.

Why don't you see what hilary and bill and kerry said about saddam in 98 thru 03. They all agreed that diplomacy failed.
