perhaps he has sold out to the white power structure in society and sports who convinced him not to attend; perhaps he thinks Bonds cheated by using steroids; perhaps he felt miffed because Ruth did not show up when he broke his record (not even Ruth's ghost); perhaps he thinks Bonds is an arrogant guy who deserves no respect; what do youthink?

Steroids - aka Barry Bonds' Drug Abuse!
On ESPN; January of 2007, Hank Aaron said he is ignoring Barry Bonds & does not want to be informed if or when Barry hits # 756!
Which led to me disliking Barry Bonds as it appeared he "magically" hit 73 home-runs back in 2001.

I believe D id the right answer. He doesn't seem too thrilled with Barry Bonds breaking the record, so considering that it's a historical day, why not make it historical. A little congratulations, and then all kinds of things about Hank Aaron. Especially considering how close he seems with Hammerin' Hank. And why not? He played for Selig when he owned the Brewers.

Maybe it's because Bonds is black. I mean, that white power structure is a pretty pervasive thing.

Then again, maybe it's because guys like Aaron risked their lives to play the game. Maybe it's because something he worked and sacrificed for is being eclipsed by a man (and I use that term very loosely) who has no sense of decency or fair play. Maybe Hank Aaron doesn't feel like watching someone steal his place in history by cheating. Maybe The Hammer doesn't feel like being paraded around like he used to be somebody when he still is somebody. He achieved what he did on his own talent and hard work. God bless Hank Aaron.

I once heard somebody refer to Barry Bonds as a "proud black man". there's nothing to be proud of there, and nothing that convinces me that he is worthy of being called a man. There's more to manhood than simply being male, and Barry Bonds has no idea of any of it.

I don't think it has to do with race, hate, or any other underhanded reason. I think it has a lot to do with what they were talking about during the Giants/Phillies game last night. Hank Aaron is a busy dude, who has better things to do than fly all over the country waiting for some guy to break his record. I don't think he wants to clear a week of his schedule to watch baseball games where the record may or may not be broken. It's not like there's a set time and date for this thing.

Hank is a very private man, and everyone says he's a man of principal. I've heard him speak on the issue, and I do not believe he's ever slurred Barry, but I feel he thinks Barry cheated, and he's ticked! Hank would hit 800 homers in todays game, but it's certainly not possible... he's too old and from a different era. It doesn't matter anyway, because guys like Arod, and Miguel Cabrera will be hot on Barry's heels in a few years.

Well, its not the white power structure....I think that he just doesn't want to answer more questions about Bonds and steroids. He has said that if there is proof that he cheated, he will believe it when he sees it. But I just don't think that he wants to answer that question any more. Fine by me. I hope he is very happy. A-rod will break this record any way.

aaron deserves to keep his record. he made the record on sweat, tears and blood. ruth made the record on beer and hotdogs before him. bonds is going to make the record on drugs and needles. does that sound fair? if i were aaron i wouldnt show because of that fact. bonds is a hasbeen never was all his records should be washed and i bet his dad isnt smiling down upon him for ruining the game of baseball.

I am a Giants fan and I love it that Aaron won't show.

Right now, we don't deserve his class - the Giants are ruining history and I think it is awful as I've always looked at the Giants as having a strong tradition.

People say, "He's innocent until proven guilty." That is only regarding criminal proceedings!! That doesn't apply in lesser matters. People that use that logic have no logic.

Because he and everyone else have better things to do than to fly around the country watching a cheating, lying, miserable individual do anything.

The only person in this scenario who has sold out anything is Bonds.

Joe Morgan has talked with Aaron. Aaron does not want to be asked questions about whether Bonds used chemicals to enhance his performance. Aaron doesn't want to be in a no win situation.
