I have always been raised a southern Baptist. What most of you would consider a "foot-washing" Baptist :-) As being Baptist we believe that the man should be the head of the household and a women should not over power a man. Personally, since my parents got a devorce when I was very young. My dad hasn't come around much. Therefore, I believe that a women can do just as much as a man can do. I support Hillary Clinton for president. I feel since my dad hasn't been around I can trust a woman easier. How do you feel about women preachers or women political leaders. What does the Bible say about these matters? (please list verses). But what is your opinion???

Thanks.

Yes let them preach, many women preachers point out that they do so under the authority of men. I would not have a problem with a woman for president, or an african american, (or any other ethnicity for that matter).

I would hate to see a ethnic man or woman seeking such a high office hurt by some crazed lunatic, such as those that killed Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, or the Kennedy's. But In this day and age we live all americans are equal men and women, and all ethnicities as well.

I was raised Southern Baptist too. When I was younger I use to think that women were just as capable of men and should be able to lead the church and even the country. That may have just been me rebeling a bit or it could have been because I'm a girl. But now that I'm older, I think a bit differently. I think that God made women differently and that their emotions can get in the way a bit. This may not be true but that's how I see things. I know that the Bible talks about a woman not being above men in the church but I don't quite remember where that was. Maybe Timothy???

I don't trust the bible, as it contributed in my friend's suicide, 2 traumatic exorsisms of my husband when he was younger, and many other reasons.
Therefore I will give you my own sinceer opinion on this. A woman is not nescessarily more qualified to be president just be ause she is a woman, however, I do believe that a women has the potential to be as good (or bad) of a president or religious leader as any man.
I don't think that there should be any special privelages given to either sex. The closer we come to equality, the better off things will be for everyone.

I think it depends on the woman, much like if I were electing a man, they have to earn the trust and support not just be of a specific gender or race. I personally look at the person and their track record and not a broad view. I personaly wouldn't vote for Clinton because she flip flops on her beliefs, actions, and tries to hard to blend in like a snake. In this day and age with the internet you can see which people take on an accent, how they say and do things and contradict themselves, and play it all side by side. I don't dig fake people I guess.

As a Roman Catholic woman I've read over many of the teaching of JPII. Women leaders is certainly a good thing; providing it doesn't diminish her capasity as a woman. His "letter to Women" addresses a good chunk of what you're looking for (with scripture --- check it out)

The RC faith allows women to do everything a man can do except: Get Holy Orders (call to deacon, priest, bishop), Transfigure the Eucharist, or give the Sacrement of reconcilliation. Women read from the Bible at mass ... women pass out the Eucharist (after it's been transfigured) ... and women teach at religious education classes ... I think JPII is very wise and did a good job in his letter to women, overall.

I don't believe in them but they are there so oh well. I believe in a man being head of the house. the bible say a man should love/respect his wife as god does the church and if you trully love and trust each other he wouldn't do ask any thing of you ungodly or disrespectful of you. Somewhere in the bible its been to long its say a woman shall not lead over a multitude of men. I think this hillary thing is just to get bill back in house what will he be the first man lol. its just crazy then after hillary serves will chealse. like i said its not for me to judge them but i wont vote for her cause i don't believe as she does. (just say no to the clinton dynasty)

Women are givers of life, creators of life, nuturers of life. Women thrive better when born premature, are less likely to die of illness. I am not Christian but look at it this way, Jesus was born of a WOMAN. Women WERE teachers before Peter got a hold of the church, there is documentations on that, allthough they will tell you its false, wrong, and written by the devil.
One of the reasons I can't be Christian is that I am no one's lap dog. Women deserve equal status. Men can't survive with out women to procreate and vice versa. We are ALL the Divine's creations. None less then another.

I go to a Catholic women's college. I haven't heard of any problems creating leaders here. That's a large part of the point.

Vision: "To be the world's preeminent Catholic college educating women to lead and influence."
