Decades ago, Australia was begging for skilled immigrants. But, that has changed. Australia is now having a drought so severe, that there are apparently talks going on regarding evacuating a high percentage of the population. So, I doubt immigrating to Australia now would be a good idea.

You may want to find an employer before you arrive. They can sponsor your visa which is much safer.
