YES this is a basic function for measuring reliability of Equ etc, there are also OEE, MTTA, MTTR, functions as well, are you working for a company looking at TPM systems if you are just I.M me back.

Odd that one would use mean time 'between' failures as opposed to mean time 'to' failure in general.
