Some auto glass companies have the ability to buff out light scratches in your windshield with an abrasive compound like jeweler's rouge...the only problem is that they usually can't do it if the scratch is in a direct line of sight forward through the windshield of the driver's vision as buffing will distort the view through the glass. Otherwise, ask different glass companies for a quote to replace the windshield and tell them you're paying for it yourself...sometimes you can get it done for around $100.00 or so depending on what model car you have. And make sure they are qualified to install the glass...on most modern unibody cars, the windshield is a structural part of the car and special methods and materials must be used to replace them to retain their structural properties. Good luck, Paul

I have removed scratches on a windshield with toothpaste.
Use a damp towel and a little toothpaste and rub the same direction as the scratch. It takes a little time and work but you can make it look like new. R

Wait for some major stars from rock hits and replace the windshield after 6 or 8 years since the whole surface of the glass is pitted from wear and abrasion anyways.

They have products on the market that are like a glass polish that will hide the marks. They run a few dollars and can be found at any store that has a auto section.
