Difference of 2 squares (4x-3y)(4x+3y)

2007-05-07 05:18:57 · answer #1 · answered by dwinbaycity 5 · 0 0

16x^2-9y^2

Remember how to factor
x² - y² = (x+y)(x-y)

We will use same approach
(4x + 3y)(4x - 3y)
.

16x^2 -9y^2
=(4x)^2 - (3y)^2
=(4x+3y)(4x-3y)

(x + y)*(x - y) = x^2 - y^2

same logic:
sqrt[ 16 ] = 4
sqrt[ x^2 ] = x
sqrt[ 9 ] = 3
sqrt[ y^2 ] = y
so:
( 4x )^2 - ( 3y )^2 = ( 4x + 3y )*( 4x - 3y )
