Here's a topic I've written a five page paper on, which could easily go to ten pages. The title was "Filthy Rich: Economy vs. Environment in China." I talked about how the Chinese government sent the country into a massive industrial growth period half a century ago, transforming China from a third world country into a first world country in two short decades. It used to be that if you bought something that said "made in China" it was guaranteed to break soon after you bought it; now China's products are as well-made as almost anything from the US. The life expectancy of a Chinese citizen in 1960 was only 37 years; by 2000 it had risen to 70! Literacy rates are on the rise, and the standard of living is at an all time high. But rapid industrialization comes with a price. Most of their factories burn coal, the dirtiest source of energy out there. 7 of the 10 most polluted cities in the world can be found in China, and acid rain falls on 30% if its land area. This is a case of non-sustainable development. There are a few efforts being done to reverse the damage to the environment, like converting all public transportation to petroleum gas and natural gas which burns cleaner than gasoline. The whole issue is kind of depressing to read about, but there's a lot of information out there, and of course, you can tie it into global warming if you want, but as much pollution as China spits out, the US still makes more pollution per person than China, so we can't just blame China for global warming. Here are some sources that I cited at the end of my essay, if you want to use them, and if they're still there:

Jamestown Virginia was founded over 400 years ago (1607). A good topic to research would be why the Brittish Colony decided to place Williamsburg as the Continental Capital pre-Revolutionary War. For more than 150 years Williamsburg was the capital of what is now the United States. Why was it chosen?

Suggested if you are interested in History.

Best of luck on your paper!

It depends, if you can write it on anything write about something you like or atleast interst you. You will stay focused more becuase it will be on something you like but if you can not do anything and have to choose for a topic just pick on that you can easily research. Research papers are not fun but if you do it on something you like it makes it alot easier.
