They make both kinds but some cemeteries have restrictions on which kind can be used. It has to do with the up keep and maintenance of the grounds. The upright kind have to have the grass around them trimmed where you can mow over the flat kind.

Well I have seen lots of flat grave stones so I would say yes you can get flat grave stones!!!!

Yes you can, in fact some cemetaries do not allow upright headstones, like the one some of my family is buried at.
My favorite flat headstone is the late, great Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott.

Here in Arkansas we have land so we can have either one but in metro areas they haven's and land and I think they must be flat ,,,{also maintance is eaiser}
