How many months can you do this for?

I've taken 2 back to back now as I get excruating periods since my pill got changed as the one I was one got discontinued, anyway my doctor(s) don't believe me and I just find it easier to skip a couple.

But how many can you skip? I've skipped 1 so far due to holiday but I have my exams over the next one (very important ones) and am thinking of doing it again ... is it okay?

I am 22, had painful periods to age 14 then the pill sorted it, changing it 18 months ago brought them back (worse than ever really) and I've had it changed again since then with no difference *sigh*

It isn't good to keep skipping like that.

If you have an issue with your pill, you need to talk to your doctor. If that doctor does not believe you then you need to go talk to ANOTHER doctor and get OFF the pill you are on.

Skipping is fine, they even have the brands that only give you 4 periods a year. In fact, you don't even need that brand, any regular brand back to back works fine also. I take 3 sets back to back for 3 years now with only spotting from time to time. It's great for my lifestyle.

Also I would like to suggest changing your doctor, seems like he or she could not find the pills with the right hormone combinations for you. Doctors that don't really listen to their patients raise a red flag. The pills that suit you should take no longer than 3 months for your body to adjust and it should not be so severe that you feel the need to skip. After that, if it does not do anything for you, you should change the brand. Good luck.

I would talk to your doctors and just keep working on finding a kind that works. I had a lot of pain until i was on the pill. I use tri-nessa which is a generic form of ortho-tricyclin lo. I absolutely love it. I also know people who use yaz and they say it takes care of painful periods. But as for skipping months, that is not going to help. You need to stick with it contuniously becuase then your body will get used to the hormones and your period should get better.

I am 38 years old and go back to back all year round. I haven't had a period for as long as I remember. I was told by a midwife that this is perfectly ok.
