I'm 51 and have a (newish) 50-year-old boyfriend that I've been dating for about 6 weeks. We live approximately 75 miles apart and see one another on each weekend, but it's going well.
But perhaps we're too young for your question.

Nope, wouldn't give up, always more than hope - it's just a matter of being at the right place at the right time.
I prefer the beach... I know what they look like in the light of day, I see how they behave around friends and in public, I how they're built, etc. Sometimes, I even realize what they're wearing denotes more about them and what they drive (if I'm able to see that) and what they eat tells me even more. And lets face it, eventually, almost everyone goes to one beach or another. Right?

i prefer holding out hope, there is always someone for everyone. the problem might be to find exactly what you're looking for.
personally i lean to many "weekend" relationships and as a result i have discovered i have no need for one deep relationship at all. i live alone but i have a job and a dog and i have many friends, on both sides of the asile, so i'm never lonely. guess it all depends on what you think you need.
good luck!

I've never heard anything so silly.
Age has nothing to do with finding love, don't let it stop you.
Older men who aren't sex-focused, like yourself(because you're relationship-focused) are great, and have a lot to offer in a relationship.
So quit beating yourself up about it, it might be a tad harder to find a longterm partner, but it's far from impossible. In fact I'm sure if you put your heart into it, you'll find success in no time.

When should one quit? When you die. Not before.
Where Life exists, hope dwells also.
Perhaps trying other, out of the "ordinary" venues would help, volunteer to do work in the local gay community. It helps the community as well as gives others a chance to know you(and if they aren't interested they may know someone who is).

I think there is ALWAYS hope. I realize that quite often things happen after you give up, but I AM an optimist. Good people such as yourself will find someone; I am confident for you. But you know I feel that way, I have told you that before! :-)

My only hope is the development of the holodeck!
My only salvation is that my sex drive went out the window along with my youth.

There's always chance that you will find what you are looking for. I have a friend who just found someone and he's in his upper 60's.
