heart rate monitors?

i am about to invest in a heart rate monitor to assist in weight loss.I am going running and also planning some cycling.Which is the the best monitor,a polar or an oregon.which is the best make,has the best functions etc.

You need to do your own research - try Google for user groups ...

.. in my opinion reliability is more important than fancy functions ...

I suggest you check out how they 'sense' the heart beat (some need special conductive gel to be smeared all over your chest and a tight elastic strap to hold it on ...)
