I would like to know if a Compaq Presario V5000 Laptop a good computer to buy. A friend of mine has one for sale. I want to buy a Laptop, I just don't know which one would be a good one to buy. Thank you in advance for your advice.

You did not give the specs so it is hard to tell...
But it is going to be about 2 years old, and sold for around $700 new (for the standard - again no specs so do not if your friend jacked it up any).
I would not go over half that original price for purchasing it.
Again, you did not say what you plan to do for it. Would be find for word processing and e-mail/Internet. So/so for gaming (but usually all laptops are).

Seems like a good notebook if it is configured right and of course the selling price from your friend.
