Even if I saw a ghost, I would not believe that I had seen a ghost.
If that doesn't make sense, I'll explain: I would try a little self psychoanalysis to get to the root of the matter - of what was going on in my mind that caused it to "see" an image of something that wasn't really there. Was I unable to get over someone's death? Was I just too weirded out in a creepy old house? Was I somehow expecting to see one, or did I have some subconscious need to see one in order to feel special, or connected to the past, or reconnected to a certain person, or to feel sure they were in a better place now, etc. etc.? All of these are valid questions that need to be addressed before jumping to supernatural conclusions.
People do hallucinate. It's no coincidence that it is usually a person with a deep emotional connection to the deceased, or a person who felt that something about the death needed more closure.
