Ok Ill have to say no on FS, it was said before but a FS has to be able to cover. Really instead of working around your weaknesses your should focus on them. If you want to make it at any position on defense or make it anywhere on offense, your gonna have to learn coverages and blocking assignments. The coverage thing is a two-way deal. As a receiver if you can recognize coverages you will know what zones are open or whether its man-on-man. It will help you exploit the defenses weaknesses. As a CB knowing the coverages will help you know what to look for from the receiver and when you can rely on help over the top from Safeties or underneath from LB's. Right now, it sounds to me like you should play DE. You can't block, or get open....well then on offense your kinda outta luck. But on DE just contain and hit people. An outside LB maybe, but Im assuming that since you can't block or cover or get open from coverage then you aren't that aware on the football field yet. Playing LB takes awareness at all times.

You're body type is ideal for a running back, you wouldn't have to grow too much more, just add some weight, but your 40 time is not good for that position. Fullback would be good, but if I read correctly you have trouble blocking, which means tight end is no good either. I guess I'd tell you to try QB, but you're awfully short for that. Maybe try putting on weight, like forty or fifty pounds and try defensive tackle...of course you'd need to get taller for that too. Hell, Mike Singletary was short, try linebacker, but work on that speed man, you could tear up defenders with a little more speed.

If coverage and blocking are problems, then defensive end may be your best position. Your assignment (should you choose to accept it) would be to disrupt plays in the backfield & sack the QB. And 185 sounds like a good size for a 9th grader, so D-line isn't out of the question.

But you should really work on your blocking, route running and getting separation from coverage. The more versatile you are, the more time you wil see on the field.

You sound like you might be a pretty good linebacker. The tackle and catch will help, and if you run well maybe a outside backer that rushes the QB. And you dont have to get open for an interception. Thats what Id do if I were you, go for a linebacker spot.

When you start 9th grade, and I am assuming that you didn't play before, the coaches will test you, along with your teammates, to find out how your skills will mesh with those of the other players, and they will place you in a position. You will LEARN blocking and the other skills necessary to help you become a better player. Trust your coaches on this. Once you find out from THEM what your weaknesses are, work on these in the off-season (lifting weights, running, etc) WORK HARD in practice!

Linebacker, fullback at your age. You will add muscle and mass through your highschool days. You definitely want to work on your speed though. You could also go down and play end, but most likely with your height you are going to be limited... try nose guard pending what D your school plays. Linebacker, fullback is a good start however.

Tight End. You can catch and you run kinda fast. You can also tackle the linemen that you face. THe only problem is that sometimes the TE blocks, so you can sit out of those plays.

Im gonna have to say that you are should put on about 20 lbs and try out for fullback. you seem tall enough (for a freshman) I dont know how strong you are. I guess that you could play fullback or Linebacker. If your team dosent have a defensive end again I say put on weight and try out there. Muscle never hurt either.

how tall???
you might be a little slow for a wr or cb
if you can't block or catch TE is out.
may a weak side LB in a 4-3 for (if they play cover 2 ie tampa two)
or a FS covering the te or the rb (you would come out in the nickle or dime package)
if you tall enough and can throw maybe QB

you do not might want to bench alot to hit demanding or make performs, in spite of the indisputable fact that it does help. merely attempt to be in a position to bench 80 atleast 20 circumstances by august sixteenth. And enhance your bench by 5 a week or another week so that you should atleast be on one hundred-130 by august. you should attempt out for protecting back position and in case you're quickly attempt out for WR, because you're extremely tall. Do numerous pushups and situps earlier you pass to mattress to.
