if not a zeppelin, what about the airships which the americans used in the 1930s

If you have a lot of money, you can get ANYTHING built.
I have been saying for YEARS, it's time for the return of the Zepplin. the Cruise Ships of the air. :) Could be done rather inexpensively, in comparison to building an actual ocean going vessel, and safely, with helium. I wish someone would DO this. It is a sure-fire winner.

funny you should ask this - a company in germany makes airships, I'm not sure if it is the zeppelin's original company though.
yes you could do it today if you wanted.

Yes, you can build it, but if you plan on flying it in the US, you'll need to get FAA approval. If you build an original one, remember they contained hydrogen, not helium. Because of the flammability, I doubt if the FAA would approve one containing hydrogen.

Because helium is much heavier than hydrogen, I doubt if it would be economical to build a passenger vessel with it. And, helium is hard to get in large quantities ... there's a shortage. But, you can get all the hydrogen you want, and it's relatively cheap.
