This equation is in the form y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. So, for your equation, the slope is 6 and the y-intercept is -8. Remember this formula. For any two coordinates (x,y) and (x',y'), we find the slope this way:

m = (y - y') / (x - x') or m = (y' - y) / (x' - x)

To find b, substitute x and y or x' and y' into the equation, and then solve for b.

y - mx = b or y' - mx' = b

This is assuming I remember this correctly, but the -8 is your y intercept by the nature of the equation. to solve for the slope set y to equal 0 and solve for X. the answer is 1.33333 as 1/3 of 6 is 2, so 1.3 times six = 8 and 8-8 =0 which would equal what you set y to. Therefore your slope is 1/3.

Hmm... I think the slope is 6/1, or just 6... Trying to remember how to find the y-intercept... I think -8 or (0,-8)?? Not sure! Check with other answers you get!
