2GB of memory will make an overall bigger impact, but if most of your computing require less than 512MB of memory and is CPU intensive such as compiling code, then 1GB of 677mhz is better.
If you are asking this question, then chances are you won't be doing such work and should get the 2GB.

The two gig would be better and as said earlier the running speed won't make much difference but think to the future.
I would go for the one gig then you could upgrade to two gig or more remember two gig running at 677Mhz is better than two gig running at 533Mhz

The more the better. The speed difference will make very little impact on the performance, the size will.
