I have a website that sells diaper cakes....custom diaper cakes that make great centerpieces at the baby shower. They are also great decorations for baby's nursery until you are ready to take it apart and start using the items!!

The site also has a page dedicated to unique and sentimental activities at the shower!!!

Check it out....you may find it useful!

You Could Also Have All The Guests Bring A Book They Enjoyed As Children As A Gift For The Mother. You Could Also Buy Some Easels And Ask The Guests To Paint How They Think They Would Have Loooked as a Baby (Blindfolded) Another Great Idea Is For You To Be Given a Diaper Pin When You Walk In But If Your Caught Saying Baby The Person That Catches You Gets The Pin And The One With The Most Pins At The End Wins A Prize . The mother-to-be does not give her own baby shower. A close friend or relative should throw the shower and it would be appropriate if you wanted to give input into what you want. It is presumptious and rude to throw yourself a party, especially where gifts are expected. If you just found out you are expecting, you have a lot of time before you need to think about having a baby shower. When the time comes, there are lots of ideas out there, just do a search for "baby shower ideas" and you'll get plenty of hits with lots of good suggestions. You can skip the wishing well/mailbox as that is typically used for cards with money at a wedding reception. At a baby shower, you will get gifts which you can register for at numerous stores such as Target, Babies R Us, and Toys R Us. I am not sure what a regular baby shower chair is, but you should use whatever type of chair is most comfortable for the mother-to-be to sit in. At my oldest daughter's baby shower, she wanted books instead of cards (she's a teacher). My middle daughter, who was throwing the shower, found a poem on the internet about buying a child's book and signing it in place of buying a card and signing it. She printed it off on cute paper and included it in the invitation. Now my new baby grandson has a nice collection of books all with inscriptions from the people who gave them to him. We also made the cutest little baby shower favors. We took 2 Lifesavers and a jelly bean and glued them together with frosting to make a pacifier. We tied ribbons on the end and put them at each place setting. We found the idea online. We got plenty of comments about them and they were easy to make.

Pass around a note book to all of your guests to write you some tips and messages about mothering. You can keep it forever and you'll be surprised at all of the good advice you'll get. I read mine in the hospital while I was in labor.

For my cake at my baby shower I actually had 4 cakes that were made to look like baby blocks and they were set up next to each other and on each cake was a letter to spell BABY. They were so cute and every one loved the idea of the baby blocks. Each cake was a different flavor.

I also had a poem in my invitation that told guests to bring a book for the baby instead of a card. They wrote their name in the book and my son had a full bookshelf before he was even born!

I have heard of people doing a raffle. You tell your guests to bring a certain item (usually diapers or baby food) and for each item they get a certain number of raffle tickets. When you open your gifts you choose a ticket (or however many winners you set) and the winner gets a "big" prize. The prizes for raffles are usually bigger than the ones for the standard games like bingo. Usually the "big" prizes are a gift card to a store or spa for about $50.
Good luck!!

My favorite idea for a baby shower centerpiece is a diaper cake. If this is your first baby, then you've probably never heard of such a thing - have a look! Diaper cakes are made from usable disposable diapers and supplies for the baby, arranged to look like a cake. They can even be used to play a baby shower game.

Congratulations on your first baby, and enjoy your baby shower!

My sister made ice cubes with tiny toy babies in them (and put them in little dixie cups)... and whoever's baby came out of the melted ice first "gave birth" and won!! We also wrote baby's name on the top of a peice of paper and tried to make as many words as we could in 5 minutes using the letters of the first middle and last name. My friend took candy bars and melted them in diapers (it looked like poo) and you had to guess what candy bar it was by looking in the diaper. Hope those are some good ideas!! :)

Have everyone write their name and adress on a thank you card envelope. Have a drawing with a prize for the person who's name you choose. (The point is that you now have preaddresses envelopes for your thank you cards!)
