I thought I was just saving the bios update on the computer but it was actually running, so now everytime that I reboot the computer I can see the monitor starting up but when it gets to the windows screen it goes black!

What can I do to solve this problem?

You need to start in safe mode with networking by pressing F8 during the boot. Then download the update again. Try running the update from dos. If this does not work, from safe mode uninstall your display driver, and see if this gets you running, then download and install the latest driver for your card.

Duffy is correct. Just hope you can get it to work. The saying about BIOS is if it works; do not mess with it. The other thing, is when it updating you not want to interrupt the upgrade.
I not sure of your computer, but, some have a BIOS Backup and you can restore it if you have it. My MOBO has this and I can upgrade and if everything OK then Backup the new upgrade or restore the previous if something go wrong, like a power outage during the upgrade (Not Fun).

You may need to download the BIOS again onto a bootable floppy, and flash the BIOS from DOS.
