I don't mind when people correct me, because I mispell words sometimes too, but some people take it personally. What is your opinion, do you mind if people correct your grammar?

Thanks for all your opinions, you kind of opened my eyes to how I have been rude a few times, thanks. I'm leaving this open to voting because all the answers are pretty good.

If you're truly helping out then no, it's not bad.
But if you're just being mean about it, yes it's bad.
I understand why you asked this. I correct people at times and I feel terrible for some reason...

personally i think it is annoying. if you get the point across than i don't need 50 comments on a typo. if i wanted to learn advanced proper grammar i would have went to college. Plus majority of the corrections on here are for spelling, and majority of the time it is just a typo, and i personally think the people making the corrections aren't doing to "help" someone out it seems like it is more of an ego boost for them. "oh look at me, i can spell and you can't".
That's my opinion.

No not all and I only say something about other peoples when I just don't understand what they are saying. We have not all been blessed with a clever mind(not saying that I have) and/or a good education so why put people down because you consider them not to be as good as you,I feel it is much nicer to help people than mock them.
Everyone is good at something and it wouldn't be such an interesting world if we were all the same.

It depends. If I can tell the person really didn't mean to use bad grammar, I'll leave it alone. However, if someone just can't be understood at all, I'll correct it so I (and others) can better understand what's trying to be said.

Some people can take it as a put-down and it's best not to do it unless you know them. I don't mind it myself.

If their intentions are real, I respect them helping me to better my speech. If they go about it like an @ss, or to belittle me in front of a lot of people, then yes it is bad.

I don't think it's bad. And I don't mind if they correct mine. We should appreciate it.

it is seen as disrespectful if you correct some who's older than you.

No people should learn how to talk and spell right. I can understand if they are a foreigner and are learning English then okay I will let them slide because they are still learning.

I think it depends on the situation. For example, on here, I won't correct people. The questions are about fun and getting answers, not about having your grammar or spelling corrected. I will correct my son's grammar constantly and my mom's. As for other people, if they are speaking, I won't correct them. If they are writing something and ask for corrections, I'll give it to them. I just think it's rude to correct someone's grammar when they are talking.
