Everyday Islamic clerics in Iran, Syria, Palestine, and other Islamic countries are calling for the end of America. Why aren't we taking it seriously?

Obviously a lot of idiots in here. The Muslims were calling for the death to America way before we began meddling with Middle Eastern affairs. Evere heard of the 1979 hostage crisis that lasted 2 years. WE did abasoluetly NOTHING to start that. Typical moron LIBTARDS!

Chris H - Name ONE evangelical Christian "who calls for a fiery end to the world, mass discrimination against Americans, and a new era of crusades."
Cite your reference and source please. If you can't provide one, then you are a complete idiot who is just shooting your mouth off as most libtards do.

i think the American people take the threat seriously but the govt does not. if a mega disaster hit iran we would be the first to pour money into aid even though they would like to cut off our heads. it makes no sense to me. being in iraq is not going to solve anything and the American people know it. islam is truly the house of the devil and we can't change that. i know some islamic believers will say oh that is not true but at the same time they will not turn in fellow islamics who are terrorists. the threat is very serious.

First, I think Americans and the government do take seriously threats against this country. But what would you have the government do? Should they simply nuke anybody that tries to foment hate and discontent directed at the US? If that was the case, every politician would be killed during his or her campaign.
Second, I don't believe that it is the Muslims in general, nor is it the the people.
Those very Islamic clerics are fighting a losing battle. The war is not with the US. The war is with ideology.
For centuries they have controlled what has gone into the minds of their followers. That is all the people knew. And they knew it to be true. And there was nothing to contradict it.
Unfortunately, today there is television, radio, and the Internet. The clerics can no longer control what their followers are told. So they fight the source. They tell their people that it is evil. They reinterpret the Koran to support their contentions. They tell their followers that the Koran orders them to kill those who would corrupt their ideology.
There may be some clerics who really believe that stuff. I don't know. But I'm willing that there are a number of them who really don't care about their countries, the Koran, or even Islam. They only want the power back that they've lost.
We are seeing that it's difficult to wage war on a people because of the view of a few.
It used to be that religious leaders were willing to die... to martyr themselves for their beliefs. The Islamic clerics are not that brave. They convince (or pay) people to go and do their dirty work for them.
If we had gone into Baghdad the first time... during Desert Storm, we'd have probably killed him. He would have become a rallying point for every Islamic nation in the world. It was imperative that he be killed and under Islamic law. We have to be very careful what we do.
You see, while the Islamic clerics fear the media, they've learned how to use it. Bombings are scheduled to occur in time for the news to make the western deadlines, but too late for any official news to be gathered. Think about it. Look at the news. x number of US military killed. x number of allied troops killed. x number of civilians killed. x number injured. Do you see anything missing? How about the number of terrorists killed? Can you hear the Muslim clerics? "Read the news. We kill at will. They cannot stop us. We cannot die because Allah is for us. Join us." I've heard they promise a couple dozen virgins in heaven to the guy who dies in a terrorist act. It has also been pointed out that there are no women in heaven. In Islam, they're not allowed. Guess the terrorist recruiters don't mention that.
It's easy to say something is wrong, or that it's too little, or too much, or too soon, or too late. But coming up with alternatives is harder. And, coming up a viable plan in the first place is most the difficult of all.

A better question- why do they hate America so much? Thanks to our continued meddling in Middle Eastern affairs, anti-American sentiment has soared, whereas under Clinton it was on the decline, and there was at least some dialogue between Israel and its neighbors. The recipe for peace and decreased terrorism is not in bombing more civilians in their homes- as we, and Isreal, should have learned by now- but in learning to mind our own business, stay within our borders and stop telling others how to live their lives.

Same reason people don't see the danger of evangelical preachers who call for a fiery end to the world, mass discrimination against Americans, and a new era of crusades.
Edit: You're an uneducated fool who knows nothing about religion or politics. You and your kind are what inspires religious terrorism and intolerance.
Falwell: “AIDS is not just God's punishment for homosexuals; it is God's punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals”
Despite the fact that the majority of AIDS victims are women:
"Thacker's story is sorrowful. Unlike the "victims" who contracted it by cavorting in a bathhouse broth of the virus, the Thackers were real victims.
His point is, homosexuals are mainly responsible for spreading it. Indeed, in the days when AIDS was more deadly than now, some homosexuals threatened "blood terrorism" by donating blood."
Right, I'm sure that by calling homosexuals terrorists no-one is promoting discrimination. This is the kind of nonsense the American Family Association is promoting.
"Christians have made arguments on both sides of this question. I certainly believe that God is displeased with America for its pride and arrogance, for killing 40 million unborn babies, for the universality of profanity and for other forms of immorality. However, rather than trying to forge a direct cause-and-effect relationship between the terrorist attacks and America’s abandonment of biblical principles, which I think is wrong, we need to accept the truth that this nation will suffer in many ways for departing from the principles of righteousness. "The wages of sin is death," as it says in Romans 6, both for individuals and for entire cultures.
-Here's Dobson arguing for religious law in America.
"Homosexuals are not monogamous. They want to destroy the institution of marriage. It will destroy marriage. It will destroy the Earth." James Dobson
Pat Robertson: "On his The 700 Club television program, Pat Robertson has sharply criticized elements of the United States government. In interviews with the author of a book critical of the United States Department of State, Robertson made suggestions that the explosion of a nuclear weapon at State Department Headquarters (nicknamed Foggy Bottom) would be good for the country, and repeated those comments on the air. "What we need is for somebody to place a small nuke at Foggy Bottom," Robertson said during his television program, referring to the location of the State Department headquarters[1]. State Department officials said they believed the comments to be in extremely bad taste, and have lodged official complaints against Robertson for his remarks."
Aside from promoting terrorism in the United States, he called for a nuclear warhead to be blown up 4 blocks from the White House, one block from my house, 6 from the Saudi Embassy, 5 from the Mexican Embassy, 4 from the IMF/World Bank, 6 from the OAS, 2 from the Pan-American Health organization, etc.
You say what's going to happen on this earth when the Rapture occurs? You'll be riding along in an automobile; you'll be the driver, perhaps; you're a Christian; there'll be several people in the automobile with you, maybe someone who is not a Christian. When the trumpet sounds, you and the other born-again Christians in that automobile will be instantly caught away, you'll disappear, leaving behind only your clothing and physical things that cannot inherit eternal life. That unsaved person or persons in the automobile will suddenly be startled to find that the car is moving along without a driver, and suddenly somewhere crashes. Those saved people in the car have disappeared. Other cars on the highway driven by believers will suddenly be out of control. Stark pandemonium will occur on that highway and on every highway in the world where Christians are caught away from the world.
[quoted in Under God, Religion and American Politics, by Garry Wills.]<~ Jerry Falwell
The rapture is proceeded by the world's fiery end, thus winning me the argument and proving you for a fool.
Let me place the final nail in the coffin:
"The words strikes fear into the hearts of people! There will be one last skirmish and then God will dispose of this Cosmos. The Scripture tells us in Revelation, chapters 21 and 22, God will destroy this earth- the heaven and the earth." Jerry Falwell
Point two, yes I have heard of the Iranian Revolution. You say we had nothing to do with the Iranians prior to the event? Again you show your lack of education. We re-installed the Shah in 1953 and granted diplomatic immunity to him and his cabinet. We also promoted liberalization of the society through the Shah, which in turn was credited with the destruction of "traditional" Iranian values. Finally, we sold the Shah a huge amount of military hardware that came close to bankrupting Iran. Of course I'm ignoring the 1000 year history of the Western-Eastern clash, imperialism and war.
