The only thing I liked about Segolene was her looks and how good of a lay she probably is. As for her socialist party, I hope it dies.

The French are an angry people and they think that their language should be spoken by anyone that steps foot on their soil. I was in heated debates with some Frenchies about this subject.
I told them that English is the universal language of the world and they need to learn because French will never be the universal language so why should we learn it. Needless to say, I was attacked heavily on Yahoo Answers France. LOL

The French 'Left' is made up mainly of a load of old wind-bags, failed Sorbonne [1960s] students and other low life Communist riff-raff.
For 'Left' in France, read 'Communist'.
The people of France have chosen well. They want a move to the right. They want a share of the prosperity it will bring.
French language. French is a language controlled by narrow minded small men living in ivory towers somewhere deep inside France, where only pure 18th century French is allowed to be spoken.
Anyone uttering the Fronglaise word 'le Shuttle', is burned at the steak with frits and eaten for lunch by the mad hairy humped backed mob of bell ringers from Notre Damme.
Meanwhile in the English speaking world, where the common language of the people is English, which belongs to everyone and no one in particular. The language continues to expand, in spite of the fact that there are no goons in ivory towers telling the people how to speak and use it.
Unlike French, English is an entirely democratic language in that the users of the language can pick and choose which words they like and ignore those which they do not like. They can also add strange foreign words, such as 'chav'. If a new slang words becomes popular for a few years, the Oxford English Dictionary will just add it to the pile of new words.
English as she is spoke, now has some 600,000 words. Does anyone know all of them? More to the point, what are they for and what do they mean?
'A play what I wrote'.

Looking at your last paragraph and you said you were heavily attacked on yahoo answers France. Serve you right. People don't have to learn how to speak English because it's the universal language of the world. Who are you to tell people what to learn? They should only do so when they come over to live in Britain. I'm disgusted with the result of the French presidential election and I really feel for the ethnic minorities who live there as he's a right-winger and is thought by the left that he'll be tough on immigration.

i think that sarkozy has nothing to offer france that Chirac didn't (except possibly some extre aggression) and that under Sarkozy's rule, France will be dragged down to the dogs as the racial tensions in the country tear it apart..... should have voted segolene...
incidentally i'm english and i speak french and spanish and i know that sooo many doors have been opened for me because of speaking three languages.... if more people took the time to learn foreign languages there would be far less xenophobia in the world

I'm french and i think that even english nor french are universal languages.
I'm not so proud to say that.
Learning other language is very important, but we have the right to choose which language has an interest for us.

I am not sure either would be good. Royal would have put France back to the 1950's in its outlook totally besotted with itself.
Sarkozy is going to stir things up(if he's true to his word) and there will be a lot of unrest(not difficult to predict) but I think you will see violence between 'ethnic' groups like you have never seen.
To begin with they will seem united but they will disintegrate and turn on each other, there will be labour problems and a lot of immigrants will flee France as it will become a very unpleasant place to be if you are a foreigner.
