Umm....sooo....what's the question? You forgot to mention that she is a cancer survivor as well.

Maybe it took so long because no black woman before her aspired to complete that trip. I know I certainly wouldn't want to (and I'm a white woman)! I'd prefer to stay as far away from that kind of cold as possible.

It's not like a black woman couldn't of done it alot earlier. She just happens to be the first black woman who was inspired to journey to the North Pole

What took so long? As other posters said, no black woman before her wanted to do it.......ironic, as the first...or at least close close second person to the Pole was Perry's assistant Mathew Henderson, a black man
