Neither the democrats or republicans have control of daily gas prices. We have a free market economy.

Demand is at an all time high, and OPEC controls the supply. That is a recipe that will raise the price of any good. The only way to decrease the price is to increase the supply but neither the democrats nor republicans seem to want to encourage oil companies build more refineries or to build more oil platforms in Alaska, California, or the Gulf.

The American public is the only one can decide how much we're willing to pay for gas. The only way to do that is to cut demand and I don't know anyone, including myself, that is willing or able to stop driving to make a statement about the price of gas. Not yet at least. We'll talk when gas is $6.00-$8.00 per gallon.

First, i did not "naively" vote for everybody - there became careful concept behind my determination and that i ought to guess it really is real with maximum folk who do vote. i guess the fellow who printed this merely has a case of bitter grapes after seeing the "Republi Cant" get jointly get a dose of truth in the superb election. vast oil and the Bushies pass some time previous, OIL expenditures are as low or decrease than they have been in months. The very last time gas expenditures went up vast oil blamed it on upkeep and switching blends which afffected potential. what's thier tale (aliby) this time? Hmm - even as became the superb time you observed a line at a gas station? How about a gas station without gas to promote? you've not - so even as vast oil posts yet another round of checklist earnings - do the maths and make contact with it what it really is - oppurtunistic fee gouging.

Why would that matter? It has done nothing but rise under this administration ( of course right before elections when it suddenly drops ). are you that naive to think that has anything to do with it? Or are you too young that you didn't drive until 4-5 years ago and don't remember when gas was a $1.20 a gallon the whole time Clinton was around basically?

have you been under a rock recently last year about this same time gas was a little higher and stayed that way for months there were lots of excuses like threats against our supply, hurricanes that didn't quite make it here but none the less they used that excuse the recent gas price has nothing to do with a democratic congress and has to do with these record high oil profits that the oil companies are racking in and they are doing this for their gain it has nothing to do with congress it has to do with greed so once again pimpslap i can not accept your propaganda

Let's be fair, besides taking 2 or 3 times what the oil companies make on a gallon of gas, it's not really the goverment's fault.

Anyway, when the Democrats won, I figured we'd have record high taxes by now...

If you naively think that the Democrats winning control of Congress has anything to do with the price of gas, I suggest you go back to high school for a refresher course in US government and economics.

If I did something naively, wouldn't that automatically mean I wouldn't imagine it?

Sheeesh.

Enough about gas, already. I've had to take a job I hate in order to carve the commute out.

Gas was just as high when the Republicans were in power. Two events can occur at the same time without being cause and effect.

When you idiotically voted republican, did you imagine the arrogance of a president who sends our troops back over and over agan to be maimed and killed so that he can see himself as some kind of great war chief? Did you imagine that you would stand with almost 20% of the country in apologizing for this moron every step of the way?

We could have gotten to the bottom of this gas thing last year, but A REPUBLICAN decided not to swear the execs in. So they basically said whatever the hell they wanted with no reprecussions. And you wonder why they continue to gouge us.

You Bush apologists are really grasping at straws now.
