To everyone who is going to point out that it's more expensive elsewhere... save it. It shouldn't be as expensive as it is here. I don't live in Europe; I live here.

Blame Democrats? For the fact that SUDDENLY, since Bush took office, there's a refinery problem that has caused the price of gas to leap $2.00 per gallon more than it used to be? In just SIX YEARS?
Wow, are you people delusional...
The fact that we're trying to take over the Middle East probably has NO bearing on how much they want to charge us for oil, right?
Riiiiiiiiiiiight.
Keep dreaming.

Whether he is wholly responsible or not, you can NOT thank him for opening the Federal Oil Reserves to bring the gas prices down. He is the first president to refuse to open them for this reason.

This is a problem with a lot of arms and legs. Oddly, the price at the pump goes up and down radically, yet the 'refining' capacity has remained the same. It would appear that 'capacity' isn't the problem. The total amount of oil pumped is roughly the same, that is it increases and decreases along with demand. No problem there either. Yet the price at the pump seems to move higher and the profit margins of the major retail suppliers move higher as well. If I had to guess I'd have to say that the major members of the Oil Mafia have the US public where the hair is short, pardon my French! To the extent that the Bush Junta is in bed with Big Oil, I'd have to say that this administration has a degree of responsibility here, but since the Bush Junta never takes responsibility for anything my advice is just keep on paying, evidently it's the American way!

Despite his being an Idiot King, his "presidency" doesn't really have anything to do with the rising prices. Much of it is due to refinery maintenance and repair costs (including down time) in the seasonal switch to different fuel formulas.
That said, it wouldn't bother me a bit if gasoline were $7 a gallon (and I don't drive a Prius). We've got to get OFF the oil teat, develop and patent new energy technologies that provide INDEPENDENCE -- and gas-guzzling SUVs are NOT the solution.

Personally, I'm very pleased at the relative low price of gas over time. At current prices, gasoline at the pump has suffered inflation of only about 3% since 1991.
I'd like to thank the President for that, but honestly I think that the petrochemical companies are the ones to really thank--theyv'e been developing more efficient methods of extraction, production, and distribution over the past fifteen years that have helped to keep the price of gasoline so low.
Had it not been for their improvements in drilling, production, transportation, and delivery to the retail pump over the past 50 to 75 years, gasoline would be twenty or thrity dollars a gallon or quite possibly even more.
Besides, it's just as easy to make loads of money in the market by lowering the price. If the President could affect the price of gasoline, he's tell his "oil company buddies" to short oil and sell futures, then drop the price. The companies would make a load of bread because they sold oil at a higher price, the overall price would be lower at the pump, and eveyone would be happy.
Duh.

I agree with these people:
YOU aske!
..but you should thank him for still being able to drive to the pump and buy it without being bombed on the way.
Hillary …
It's a refinery problem. Thank Democrats from blocking us from do more building and drilling.
People need to stop blaming the President! If there was another president in the office would we blame him for things that were already a problem before Bush went into office? Probably not!
It's the democrats making some really bad choices for us!

Well you can do the math and know that fuel prices have risen over $2 a gallon since he took office, but they say you can't blame the big oil man in the white house.
$3.07 is cheap, here it is $3.25. I am taking a job in which I work at home now since I live in the sticks and it is 20 minutes to any town, I can't afford to drive. Taking a 10k a year pay cut to do so, figure I will save that much not only on fuel but wear and tear on the car.

Don't congratulate him yet, he's not done by a long shot. I find it very suspicious that it's over $3.00 before Memorial Day. That traditionally being one of the biggest travel days of the summer. Give it 3 more weeks, you'll think you have something to complain about now. Just wait and see how high it will go. Where's that oil from Iraq anyway?

Start the Blame with Al Gore, he is the one that sold
most our petroleum reserves to Occidental Petroleum
substantially under market value, now we can not
draw from that to keep prices down, Oh Al Gore Sr. he
worked for Occidental Petroleum.
Want to get gas prices down? we know that a 1 or
2 day buy no gas doesn't work, so why not a 3 month
of buy no gas from Shell and Exxon. If no one bought
gas from them, I do believe they would drop their prices
and then on to Chevron, Mobile and all the other Oil
companies.

If you want to get the real story of how gas prices have been manipulated by the Bush administration and big oil companies, Google: production sharing agreements.

So...is this a question or a rant?
No, I do not think you should thank Bush for two reasons:
1) I think it is silly and naive to think that one person is solely responsible for the price of gas.
2) If you think he IS responsible, why would you thank him?
