Ladainian Tomlinson. He runs, throws, and catches. It might be Reggie Bush if he lives up to the hype and produces like he did in college. I do not see how your coworker says Viniateri. You should slap him.

There can be only one answer to this question, it is obviously LT, he can run with speed and power as well as finese, he can block, catch and pass (he threw for two touchdowns this past season). He is extremely humble and gives praise to all of those around him.
He has been consistantly good year after year. Even John Madden said that LT is the BEST PLAYER in the NFL today.
Reggie Bush? Yes, he had a good season but let's not go jumping on the Reggie Bush band wagon until we see him for a few more years, a lot of guys have had a good first year and then faded into obscurity.
After LT, there are a lot of great athletes in the NFL, Adam Vinatieri is a great kicker and is a pretty fair athlete but in the NFL he is just a boy among men wen it comes to all around athletics.

LT... he is truly dominant. He can catch, run, block, and has a great love for the game.

Some would say Reggie Bush but he needs a few more years to elevate his game to elite status.

I wouldn't say Adam Vinatieri is the best athlete. I would say he is the most clutch kicker in the NFL though.

Athlete in terms of physical ability I'd say the upcoming rookie from Georgia Tech, Calvin Johnson.
6'4, 230 pounds and yet he runs a 4.35 40 yard dash which puts him in the top 5% of the nfl speed wise. Has around a 40 inch vertical again top of the nfl. For a man that size he has the speed and quickness of a smaller Steve Smith type receiver. But we'll see this year how he turns out

If we are talking straight athlete, I would probably go with Julius Peppers of Carolina. He is 6 foot 7 weights close to 300 lbs and can run like a corner back. He is a pure play maker that scares the hell out of offenses every Sunday.

Other top athletes in the NFL

Randy Moss (in his prime)
Antonio Gates
Sean Taylor
Champ Bailey

You would really have to break it down by positions or size. it's hard to judge the athleticism of say Julius Peppers or D'Brickshaw Ferguson compared to Reggie Bush or Steve Smith. There are alot of exrememly athletic guys, but due to huge differences in size and dimensions it can be extrememly difficult to judge that. The bigger a guy getsthe less credit he is going to get for his athleticism.

Favorite teams and players aside, and only if I had to choose just one, it would HAVE to be L.T.

Hands, blocks, vision, humble, etc. He has a lot you just can't teach. Although he's my pick, he's not a second to none athlete any more because of reggie bush. Reggie must block better, but after bush, there is no one close to L.T.

LT of the Chargers...Vinateri is the best PK of all time...but you can either kick or you can't...and believe me, I like Vinateri, cause I am a diehard Pats fan...but I don't know if you can call someone in a position who generally doesn't have to worry about getting tackled the MOST athletic...
