All his other years he NEVER hit more than 49 hr's. So I look at it this way if you look at his hr's that one year see how many barely cleared the fence, we'll say maybe the 1st 5 rows. He probably still hits about 50 hr's. Which means he has to hit 40 hr's or so to break the record. I still don't see why so many people are hating on Bonds.... So basically the question is if he hits 45 hr's like he has been all his previous years instead of the 73 would there be any controversy?

Giambi's highest HR total is 43 and people called him a cheater, they don't anymore. Why?

He admitted it.

He wasn't hitting 45 homers in ALL his previous years. During his Pittsburgh years he was hitting 25-30 a year. Then he went to San Francisco, hooked up with Balco, and suddenly all of his numbers skyrocketed at an age when a player SHOULD begin a slow decline in performance.
Look at picture of the guy when he was in his twenties, then look at the Michelin Man physique he suddenly developed just at the time his numbers soared.
Let's just say that if a guy performs better at 40 than he does at 25, you have to wonder why.
Of course, maybe more people would believe his claims of innocence if he weren't such a self-absorbed jerk.

JEREMY Giambi admitted to using steroids.

JASON Giambi apologized for, um, something, but wasn't man enough to specify exactly what. Probably preparing for a post-playing career in politics.

Bonds is, from most reports, an abrasive individual. For some people that's more than enough reason to hate him. The scandalous air around him just gives the haters one more tool for bashing him. These people need a cookie and a nap more often.

Yes. To me its not just that he cheated, but that he is breaking maybe the most coveted record in all of sports.
Think about poor Roger Maris or Hank Aaron, getting bested by this cheater. Its an all time record and it will now forever be tainted. If it wasnt for him breaking the records, I think people would be more inclined to ignore the cheating.....

you make a good point. i think people may not have noticed if he didn't pull those 73 hrs out his butt that year. the only thing is he also grew in size a lot over the years. a whole lot to just be natural. i support Bonds though.

I agree. He would have nothing said had he only 50 or less homers. But they tried to find fault with Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa when the broke 61 homers.

No. All-celeb video games are seen "exhibition" video games and don't count style in the direction of their season stats. They do save music of "All-celeb interest" stats and it could be utilized to that.

Don't just look at the totals, look at the homerun/AB numbers, after 2000 they are insane. He had almost as many homeruns as singles
