Desperate times call for desperate measures eh NY, like spending 28 million on a 45 year old who has been pitching somewhat mediocre in the National League where the 7-9 batters are much weaker than the American League. Also, factor in that you guy still won't have him pitching for about a month and who knows what place you guys will be in by then. And oh ya it doesn't matter anyways because he is no longer a 9 inning guy anyways, he is a 6 inning guy at best and what will happen then? You will bring in one of your weak relief pitchers who will blow the game. The Yankees have a terrible bullpen so it doesnt matter what old washed up pitcher they over spend on because the bullpen will blow the game anyways. The Rocket doesn't scare anyone, sorry to break it to you Yankees fans but this is going to be a bad move for you all just wait and see.

What do I think about that? I'm laughing my you know what off at the pitiful Yankees, who continue to year in and year out be run down by thier dumb arsch owner Steinbrenner who thinks that you can buy heart. I give credit where it is due, and as a Boston fan since I was 7, I can say the only Yankees I can even respect are Joe Torre, Derek Jeter, Hideki Matsui, and Jorge Posada as they show class day in and day out. The Yankees for years lead the league in payroll yet have not won a championship that they like to blow thier blow horns about in closing in on a decade. How many times of comming in fourth/fifth/third/second whatever place in the playoffs does it take to realize you can't just buy your way in? I'd bet Clemens paces on giving up like 25-30 homeruns in like half a season

Personally, for 20million dollars, for 4months of a 6inning pitcher, who by recent standards, will probably be worn out by September, and isn't going to post a 2ERA in the AL - I think its all about hype and not about results.
As a Boston fan, I am far more interested in getting Jon Lester back into the rotation.
I get why you enjoy this, but the Yankees NEED Clemens, the Red Sox don't and i will enjoy that.

Really would have to wait and see how Rocket Roger performs on the mound in his first few games in the Yankees uniform. If this means for the Yankees to win the World Series or even get into the playoffs, then go for it.

While I'm not a Boston fan, I HATE the f'n Yankees and think this is just plain sad. So now what you're really saying is that Boston may lose one game each series, because I'm highly doubting Clemens would be pitching each game of each series. A 20 year-old couldn't do it let alone someone of Clemens' age.

Who cares? I think it's more entertaining watching these desperate Yankee fans get all excited about over spending for an OLD man to save their year...haha...ooooh, the rest of the league is sooo scared of "all about me" Roger....guarantee ya, he will pull his groin within his first four starts. One man, will not save a team. You need a lot more than that I'm afraid. Once again, the Yanks overpay for an old pitcher. George will you ever learn?

yeah! Go Yanks! Outspend every other team and ruin fair competition in the sport! WOOHOO
That is why baseball sux and will never compare to football.
Get a salary cap and maybe baseball can return to being a fair sport.
Clemes makes more the Kc's whole payroll. What a disastrous joke. Yeah go yanks!! If they look bad, buy more players.....eventually you will spend enough to compete.....

I think the guy is the most notorious mercenary in professional sports history... and I still hate him for leaving in 2004.
I'm a huge Yankee fan and I blame him for Pettitte going to Houston, and I blame him for what happened to us in the 2004 ALCS... because really, would that have happened if we had him and Andy instead of Brown and Vasquez?
If Clemens had stayed, Pettitte would have stayed too, and we'd probably have won at least 1 more series.
Clemens better pitch his butt off... that's all I'm going to say.

Not a Sox fan but your Yanks are grasping for straws. Even if he pitches great it's only 1 out of 5 games and he's not going to win every one of them. Basically, if you have to get that excited by a senior citizen pitcher you guys are screwed.

They should trade him for someone's top pitching prospect, They need someone who will be good for 10 years. If they win the series this year, big deal, your already 28 mil. in the hole. Clemens is just using king george (not bush) for a bank.
Steinbrenner is a sap.
