I've been burnt by MLM a few times and later found a coach who opened my eyes to see what 95% of people who join MLM are NEVER EXPOSED TO.

Don't bother with them. I was an Amway distributor on the early 80's, and made a little money (about $2000 per month). But, in today's market MLM's make most of their money from signing up recruits. Are there exceptions? Maybe. But, every MLM says theirs is the exception. "We're the one out of 100 that you won't be scammed by."

Try something else.

Well 13 years ago we got in to Amway and that whole fiasco is now comical. At the time it was no laughing matter.

Currently I am in MLM and have had great success but I am also skeptical ask a ton of questions and think (sleep on it)

Recently on top of what I am doing now through this venture another MLM co. opened in the US they asked me to join as the product was ground breaking. I spent four weeks trying the product, and just couldn't sell something that was a. expensive. b. didn't work for me - I either felt I made a smart choice or would regret making a lot of $ but I think I chose properly.

I realize people get burned which makes working for myself selling products harder thanks to other MLM ventures that have really hurt people.

I have been and I know allot of people who was burnt by MLM. I was in on Amway, and later they changed there name because they was getting a bad rap again, and finally the FTC put them completely out of business in the United States although I think they still do business in other countries with less strict laws. Another is Prepaid legal which you pay allot for the little you get I see them going the same direction as Amway. Unless you get on when it first opens and star in only a short time you always get burnt.

I am currently with a multi-level marketing company, and haven't had any problems. With the company I am an independent consultant with, we are actually selling products, and the contract that I signed states that the company buys back the product should I ever decide to stop selling.
There is a huge difference between MLM and pyramid schemes. If it sounds too good to be true (i.e., make money doing nothing), then it probably isn't true.
