Does my own eye count? My son scratched the crap out of my eye with his razor sharp claws. Couldn't see out of it for 2 weeks. Doctors said I had a deep abrasion in my eye. It caused both my eyes to close shut. Light hurt. I was blindfolded for those 2 weeks, and it sucked. I couldn't see my son, or life happen around me, I couldn't do the normal things in life.

There were a couple of occasions where I had one in there for a couple of hours. The last time I was using an electric plane and got some sawdust in my eye that just wouldn't come out. I felt like it was still in there when I went to the emergency ward, but the doctor (who as luck would have it had a special interest in treating eyes) took a look at my eye with this special machine and said that all the foreign objects had fallen out but the surface of my eye was all scratched so it still felt like something was there.

I woke up one morning with a scratchy irritation under my eyelid and nothing would make it move or ease it. I went to a mirror and found a small black dot on my eyeball. When I touched it, it didn't move and it felt hard against the ridges of my fingertip. I went to the doctor to have it checked out. He numbed my eye, put my head in a vice thing and then I had to keep my eye open as I watched him literally drill this thing out! He finally got enough eyeball removed to grip it and pull it out. It was an inch long metal bristle from a cleaning brush, the kind with a square handle a little larger than a toothbrush! Thing is, I hadn't used one of those since I left my previous job two months earlier! So it had to be in there for over two months! I wore a patch on my eye, Arrrr, for a couple weeks but that was the only negative side-effect.

I'm not sure how long I left it in my eye, but once had a pine needle from a pine tree that was in my eye. I ended up with a corneal abrasion and a pressure patch for almost a week. I am not sure why you are asking, however if it is because you have something in your eye, please don't wait too long to go see a doctor and have it irrigated out. Eyes are nothing too mess around with OK?

I had a speck of metal in my eye for just over 24 hours I guess, couldn't feel it normally but my eye really stung when it was closed. Eventually went to hospital to get it picked out with a needle.
