But for one or two changes, the team India was the best we could field.Lack of focus and complacency were the main reasons for the poor performance.

B/Coz of the political intervention or politics...
1.The team are not united.. not playing as a TEAM
2.Player's Performance is not considered as an important criteria in selecting a team or selecting the playing-11. And So players are loosing confidence in themselves.
There are some other things also happened due to politics.

While Indian cricket has generally failed due to political iontervention as better players do not get a chance in the team because they may not have any body to support their case or canvass for them, the pathetic performance of Indian Team in the just concluded world cup was due to total failure of bowlers and batsmen to perform to their potential due to lack of dedication, determination and mental toughness.

Millions of money is involved in the game. Unless the game is transformed to the way English football is done, cricket team will never grow.
The real losers are the public - the mass idiots who still beleive Indian cricketers as gods and even willing to construct a temple for them. How mad our Indians are...

There are two reasons for India's failure in the world cup - physical fitness and money.
The physical fitness of our senior players, who were expected to win the world cup for us, was abysmal. Compare our senior players' physical fitness with the physical fitness of the seniors of other teams like Murali, Vaas, Jayasuriya, Hayden, Gilchrist, McGrath, Fleming, Pollock, Kallis, Gibbs etc and you will realise what I am saying. Lack of physical fitness leads to deterioration of hand-eye coordination, reflexes and slow feet movement - essential ingredients for a successful batsman. Lack of physical fitness also means poor fielding resulting in leaking of more runs, and poor running between the wickets resulting in less runs scored during the course of an innings. Lack of physical fitness always makes Team India start a match with minus 40 runs.
The next problem - money. When different players in the team earn different amounts of money, there will always be some tension in the dressing room. And when one struggles to remember as to when a player who is earning the most has last won a match for India, the problem becomes acute. Peace will prevail only when the money earned by a player is directly proportional to his perfomance. Nobody will grudge another player earning more if he is performing consistently and winning matches for India. The problem starts when the least performing player in the team is earning more than the others who are performing.
The BCCI, therefore, has to ensure that all our players are physically fit irrespective of whether they are seniors or juniors. Do not select a player only for his skill level. The other thing BCCI has to ensure that the money earned by a player is fair and equitable. Non-performers should be shown the door even if he is a Tendulkar or Ganguly. This ensures that only players who perform are in the team and get a chance to earn money through match fees, bonuses and endorsements.

Who killed Mahatma Gandhi and Why? Similarly, Feroz Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv, Sanjay, in between Little Great Leader Lal Bahadur Sastry. It is fate, destiny killed them. Now coming to Cricket, I guess in my own way that i) Selection was not good - No VVS Laxman - again team selection against Bangla, Srilanka was at fault - Greg may be a great batsman, but his mind is not at all suitable for Indian thinking approach. Woolmer's death perhaps shocked our people. Unknown underground factors, Political reasons what ever happend happend for good to Indian Cricket only. At the out my conclusion is that all students concentrated on examinations, parents relieved , every body is happy now. It is destiny's desire.
