Interestingly I was just researching this myself. By US law overtime for hourly employees will be paid at a minimum rate of 1.5 times normal pay for all hours worked beyond 40 in a week. Here is a link to the appropriate US Code: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode29/usc_sec_29_00000207----000-.html

well it depends if you are payed hourly if you go over 40 hours they are suppose to pay you time and a half.

If you are payed salary like I am you only get payed half of your rate.example. I make average 13 dollars an hour but remember im salary so I make the same amount every month no matter what as long as I work 40 hours a week . If I go into overtime I would only make about 6 dollars for every hour over 40.

Hope this helps a bit. If you need some more help just email me.

i have never heard of overtime at 39 hours. overtime is to be paid 1.5 times your normal wage at anything over 40 hours per 1 work week. some companies will pay you time and a half on sundays and holidays. have a wonderful day.

Depends on the state and if you are considered full time, but after 40 hours normally is time and a half, so 150% wage per hour. Would further matter if it is in your contact.
