A strange question I know, but back along someone asked me in a supermarket what the difference was and I honestly couldn't answer, which is better, biological or non-bio? thanks!

Washing powders come in two main types, biological powders, which contain enzymes and non-biological powders which have no enzymes.
The enzymes in the biological powders eat the dirt in the clothes. They can also cause skin irritation, so are best avoided if you have sensitive skin.

I can't help Rainbowz, but you are right - the ones you are looking for are biological and non-biological. Biodegradable is something else entirely.
Biodegradable may refer to the nature of the packaging and how long it takes for it to deteriorate over time. It has nothing to do with the washing powder itself. I wonder how many people on these boards have ever been and bought their own washing powder!

i won't be in a position to help Rainbowz, yet you're appropriate - those you're in seek of are organic and organic and non-organic and organic. Biodegradable is something else completely. Biodegradable might confer with the character of the packaging and how long it takes for it to pass to pot over the years. It has no longer something to do with the bathing powder itself. i ask your self how many people on those boards have ever been and offered their very own washing powder!

Assuming you want the difference from biodegradable and non-biodegradable, the best one is biodegradable. Non-biodegradable cleaners are unhealthy for the eco system. They are the ones that stay in the earth, polluting the waterways and can affect well water making it unsafe to drink. Biodegradable cleaners go back to nature in less than one year. I hope you watched Oprah Winfrey on April 20 when she had a "GO GREEN" show. The show featured GETCLEAN that has gotten rave reviews from everyone using it including the celebrities and the White House, particularly Laura Bush.

That's really odd...
Are you sure it's biological and not biodegradable? Perhaps botanical?
A non-biological would be a synthetic (man made) chemical... a biological would be a naturally organic cleanser - although I have no clue what that would be.
Humans are biological creatures... we have a biology of humans. A building is man-built... non-biological.
Biodegradable would make sense.
It is a substance that when it flushes out into the water, microorganisms could break it down and return it to nature. Some soaps radically cause calcification and end up blocking your drain pipes. (Yes... sadly... personal experience.)
Botanical would also make sense... it would contain plant substances to enhance cleansing.
I would love to know what soap box she was reading - if you could click on that "little pencil" icon and put it in "Additional Details!"
