Here in the county of Suffolk, UK, it's raining. Yet last weekend we were being told that we were going to be having a bank holiday heatwave. Honestly, weather forecasters! It's the only job in the world where you can be consistently useless at it, and still keep your job. Bah!

1 Who told you that?
Did you pay for a forecast, or just listen to a free 5-second Dj precis on your car radio?

2. Not all forecasts are done by weather forecasters.
There are "forecasters" who go on tree bark, sunspots, bird appearances, etc. There are others who just regurgitate what they read on the Internet. And there are professionals who have years of training and experience and have a success rate well over 90% on average.

3. The weather went "pear-shaped" because the (unseasonal) high pressure that had been stopping weather fronts to the west of the UK, finally weakened, allowing bands of cloud and rain to cross over the UK again.

The fine weather will return and the summer indications are good for sun-lovers, so don't panic just yet...
