Dont listen to them. Just keep doing what you have a great time doing. Sure THEY may not think you're work is any good but I can guarantee that someone will. Also, as you do it more you'll continue to improve and those same people that told you you werent good enough will be banging on your door to see your precious work. Dont be a quitter and keep doing what you love. Who knows? Maybe you'll suprise yourself/

You should never give up on anything you love to do. If you love writing, then you should continue to write. If you are wanting to be published someday, and people are telling you that you do not have the talent, you should use every avenue available to you (school, online, and practice) to improve your writing skills.
If you just write casual poetry and songs, and you don't really love to do it, then you should just continue to do it for that reason, because it's something you enjoy. Even if you love writing, you don't have to make it your primary focus in life, follow some of your other interests, and when the time comes for you to get a job or get a career, if you can't get into the writing industry, you can still write for fun and relaxation and use your fall back plan as your source of income.
If you are hanging around people who are telling you that you are not good enough and that you won't ever become anything, then you are hanging out with the wrong people. The people you hang out with should be your friends and family, and they should be supportive of your goals, dreams, and talents.
Good luck to you! Never give up or quit something you love just because other people tell you to.

You should never give up on something you have a passion for. Take a closer look at your work and make a critical decision regarding your songs/poetry. Ask yourself, "if this was someone else's, what would I really think about it?" If you realize that it really isn't that great, don't stop, just continue for your own writing enjoyment.

aw never give up man, as long as you enjoy yourself, don't let anybody bring you down. Who knows, all of these people who tell you you're not good enough, may just be seeing your name on a book. Then who'll laugh at who? Beside's there's always somebody out there who'll appreciate you're work, nobody's alone.

It depends. Are you writing for the love of writing, or are you writing to sell? If you're writing to sell, listen to what people are saying and try to give them what they want.
If you are writing because you enjoy it, don't stop, but don't seek approval from others who don't understand you.
