Is the 8600 worth it?

I'm thinking of buy a 8600GT with my new system just want to know whether you think its worth it.
I want a video card that can play the games out at the moment and I thought that the was quite good considering I'm getting it for $ 285 NZ.
I dont really want to spend much more that that and I was hoping to get a card that supported DirectX 10.

So if anyone could help it would be great.

The GT yes but the GTS, no. Its overpriced. The GT has great overclocking headroom. More here:
