Hey, Nick. I think it was implied by the author (Babbit ) that the family needs to move around every couple of decades or so to keep people from finding out their secret --- eternal youth.

If you were a neighbour who grew up alongside the Tuck kids and you notice that they don't age AT ALL, wouldn't you be curious why? And if you find out they have eternal youth, wouldn't you be tempted to try it too?

The thing is, the family doesn't want more people becoming immortal --- because it gets tiring and boring.

"Who wants to live forever? Who waits for forever anyway?"

If they stayed too long, people would realize they weren't aging. As the book shows, that would lead to all kinds of difficulties and persecutions for them.

The Tucks are different - and people don't like different.

because eventually people would start to notice that the Tucks never age, and would then start to wonder why that was. Tucks want to keep their secret/curse to themselves.

because they don't die and they don't want the others finding out, obviously. are you asking this as a test or have you read the book and just didn't get it?
